Highland Park introduces limited-edition scotch whiskey
The Edrington Group, a liquor supplier in Scotland, has introduced limited-edition of Highland Park Scotch whisky created for the duty-free and travel-retail channel as part of its Vintage Collection.
Highland Park 1978 Vintage is the sixth single malt in the range and its design was inspired by the Viking heritage of the brand, which is based in the Orkney Islands.
The front of the 1978 Vintage presentation box features a beast's head with bared teeth and wide eyes, with bird-like figures intertwined around the back of its head and neck. The inspiration comes from Norse woodcarvings discovered on an archaeological dig in Norway in 1904.
The new scotch whisky is bottled at a higher strength of 47.8% abv, Highland Park 1978 Vintage joins the existing range comprising whiskies from 1998, 1994, 1990 and 1973, as told to DFNI.com.
According to the supplier, the differentiation between expressions has been achieved through subtle variations in the use of first-fill and refill European and American oak casks, which determine the character of each whisky.
The Edrington Group area global travel-retail director Steven Sleigh said The Highland Park 1978 Vintage is another addition to the travel-retail range and further evidence of the appetite for the brand within this channel.
"Experience has shown us that these limited, travel-retail exclusive bottlings offer exceptional quality for both luxury gift buyers and whisky enthusiasts." Sleigh added.
