Statistics from Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in Zhangjiakou showed that 1,000 hectoliters wines were imported at Zhangjiakou port in total with a value of 472,000 Euros, which created the highest record in history. The wines are mainly from France, Australia, and Portugal and so on. Three categories are imported, they are white wine, red wine and pink wine.

According to the insiders, the reasons causing the sudden jump should be analyzed mainly from the following three aspects.

Firstly, more and more Chinese citizens choose to drink wines with the increase of their average incomes. Ordinary people are on the way to be the mainstream consumers in that an increasing number of Chinese consumers have a better understanding of the imported wines, only leading to the fact that the imported wines are not the privileges of the high-end groups.

Secondly, the furious competition of the new and old world leads to a wider source of imported wines, not just limited to France, but more and more Australian and Spanish wines rushing into the Chinese market.

Last but not least, the performance price ratio of imported wines is superior to the national ones, which propels costumers more willingly to choose the former one.
