Korbel Champagne releases organically grown 2009 California Brut
This is the third release of this earthy-friendly California sparkler
Press Release — The newly released 2009 Korbel California Brut Champagne made with organically grown grapes provides compelling evidence that luxurious and earth-friendly are not mutually exclusive. This is the third release of this groundbreaking California sparkler.
Despite a vintage of smaller-than-usual yields, the 2009 Korbel California Brut Champagne made with organically grown grapes is available nationally at a suggested retail of $15.99.
In 2007, Korbel received organic processor certification from the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) and — using grapes grown in accordance with USDA organic certification requirements, without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers — produced the inaugural release of organically grown California Brut Champagne soon after.
Produced, like all Korbel California champagnes, using the time-honored méthode champenoise, the 2009 Korbel California Brut made with organically grown grapes showcases delicate yet lively green apple, lemon zest and white peach aromas, accented by subtle yeast complexity. Fresh citrus and apple flavors also are accompanied by subtle yeastiness.
Established in 1882, Korbel Champagne Cellars produces the United States’ most popular méthode champenoise champagne. Owned and managed by the Heck family since 1954, Korbel currently makes 11 California champagnes and a small amount of still wine. In a separate facility, Korbel also produces one of the country’s most respected brandies.
