Suffering Australian winemakers look to Asian markets

Australian grape growers and wine makers have experienced one of the most difficult seasons in living memory.

In Australia's southern state of Victoria, wet weather and high humidity have left their mark on this year's vintage.

More rain also leads to less sugar in wine vintages and a lower alcohol content.

Willy Lunn of Yering Station says suffering Australian winemakers have begun to set their sights on new markets in Asia.

"We're seeing increased growth in Hong Kong and one of the emerging markets is Vietnam," he said.

"Lots of people are going to Vietnam for holidays, so all the major hotels that are built there want Australian wine."
