Le Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB), the Bordeaux wine Bureau which is top authoritative institution for the global wine industry, is inclined to look for cooperative partners to set up a wine school in Xiamen, which will cultivate wine teachers, traders and lovers, reports Xiamen Economic Daily.

CIVB owns 12,000 wine makers and 400 wine dealers in Bordeaux. It has cultivated more than 10,000 wine professionals around the world after its foundation in 1992.

CIVB has not set up any wine schools in China so far. There are only 26 officially-admitted CIVB professional lecturers, with 2 in Xiamen now.

Allan Sichel, the president of CIVB Distribution Coalition, who paid a visit to Xiamen two days ago, said that China is the market leader of Bordeaux wine, and Xiamen is an important city for the wine market.
It is reported that wine wholesalers in Xiamen have increased to 110, with 41 national dealers and more than 70 provincial dealers. Meanwhile, Bordeaux wine accounts for 80%-90% of Xiamen high-quality wine.
