Travel to Virginia & NC Mountains
A weekend getaway to Virginia and North Carolina is only minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Here, you can find your passion for the outdoors and everything related to bluegrass in the Blue Ridge Highlands, the mountainous area of NC and VA.
The Virginia and North Carolina scenery can be best viewed canoeing the New River, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, biking the New River Trail, hiking the Appalachian Trail, or riding your faithful steed on the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail. The Birthplace of Country Music, the Blue Ridge Highlands area invites you to The Crooked Road and to Galax, VA, the "Old-Time Capital of Bluegrass Music."
Blue Ridge Parkway
Take a journey on America's National Scenic Byway, the Blue Ridge Parkway, which runs through the NC and VA mountains, offering spectacular scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Yadkin Valley views. There are plenty of places to see, and our favorite spots are Mabry Mill, Blue Ridge Music Center, Doughton Park, and Bluff's Restaurant.
Mountain State Parks
Our Blue Ridge Mountains of NC and VA are dotted in parks, offering views of some of the highest peaks in Virginia. Some of our Blue Ridge parks include Grayson Highlands State Park, Mount Rogers National Recreation
Area, New River Trail State Park, New River State Park, and more.
Cycling
This region offers some of the best cycling trails, mostly notably the New River Trail, a 57-mile linear trail the parallels the New River.
