Manchester-based Kingsland Wines and Spirits has revealed plans to invest in excess of £1 million on their Irlam based site during 2011. The project represents the largest single investment since the management buyout in 2004 and will see a complete overhaul of the wine cellar including 42 new stainless steel tanks.

Mark Dixon, Manufacturing Director of the Irlam-based independent wine company, commented:
“We’ve been planning this project for some time. It is important that we continue to invest in, and adopt best practice, and this investment demonstrates our commitment to doing this. We want to exceed our customers expectations in all areas of the business and we are very focused on ensuring we do this. Our new cellar will ensure we can maintain our flexibility and receive and handle our products efficiently for many years to come.”

Project manager Nigel Smith explains the core activity will happen in two phases to minimise disruption to the customers “Phase one is underway and will take around 7 weeks, it will see the removal of old equipment, floors replaced and drainage installed into the existing building plus the addition of half of the new stainless steel tanks. There will then be a break of around 12 weeks whilst these changes are absorbed then phase two, a further 7 week process, will begin in September with the aim of all work completed before the end of Oct 2011.”
Key benefits to KWS will include:
• Fully meets best practice for wine storage
• Increased capacity & flexibility
• Reduction in waste & energy usage (lower environmental impact)
