German wine to provide aid

By   2011-4-7 9:11:38

The leading associations in the German wine industry have come together under a common umbrella to assist the Japanese people in the reconstruction of their country after the devastating natural catastrophe and its sequels.

In view of the incalculable suffering of hundreds of thousands of Japanese, and particularly considering the uncertain future of Japanese children, this initiative, with its joint donations, plans to support the reconstruction of schools and orphanages. The patronage in Japan is in the hands of „Save the Children JAPAN“, which will work with the project. On the German side, the acitivities will be coordinated by the „Wine Saves Life“ charity organisation.

With this appeal, the German wine industry wants to signal its soldiarity with Japanese friends and business partners, in this, the 150th anniversary year of German-Japanese friendship. The fundraiser is being supported by the German viticultural association, the federal association of wine cellars and of the wine trade, the German Raiffeisen cooperative association, the German Wine Fund, the German Wine Institute, the association of premium wineestates VDP, and the association of German wine exporters.

All other institutions, associations or other groups in the wine industry that wish to join this project are requested to contact info@winesaveslife.org or by telephone undr the dedicated number (+49)0611-974-907-50.
