Feast of Drunken Dragon applys for UNESCO's list
BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhuanet) --On the 8th day of the fourth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, residents in Macao celebrate the feast of Drunken Dragon.
Usually, the unique Drunken Dragon Dance is performed on this occasion.
Originated in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, the feast of Drunken Dragon starts in the morning at the Kuan Tai Temple. People from all walks of life perform the dancing with dragon costumes such as wooden heads and tails.
While the dancing parade marches on, the merry people also visit local shops and drink wine until they can dance no other way BUT drunk. The big day ends with a grand dinner named "Long Live Meal".
Now the feast of Drunken Dragon is listed as a candidate of Macao's cultural heritages, and the local government is planning to apply for the festival to be included on UNESCO's list.
