The Wine Academy of Spain is preparing for the second edition of WineFuture, 6-8 November 2011 in Hong Kong. With just over six months remaining, WineFuture HK'11 (www.winefuture.hk) has already
set its program and confirmed the participation of the biggest personalities in the wine industry. The first edition held in Rioja Spain was considered one of the largest conferences in the history of the wine industry.
The conference will gather again some of the most influential industry experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the world of wine. The summit will focus upon the business side of the wine sector--sales, communication, marketing, trends, and economics--and expected attendance of more than 1,500 winemakers, Masters of Wine, technical experts, distributors, importers, buyers, journalists, and sommeliers.
The three-day conference's program also features a series of master classes and tastings. Robert Parker, widely considered to be the world's most influential wine critic, will again lead these series of tastings of up to 1,000 participants. 2011's theme is the 'The Magical 20' - a presentation showing 20 Bordeaux wines that Parker considers the most interesting for the near future, with a focus on the Asian markets.
This second edition features two additional tastings. Financial Times wine columnist Jancis Robinson MW will lead a tasting dedicated to up & coming styles and varieties as well as emerging regions. WineFuture HK'11's organizer and President of The Wine Academy, Pancho Campo MW, will lead a tasting called 'The Diversity and Passion of Spanish Wines' accompanied by a video production that will take the attendees on a tour through the important Spanish wine regions Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Jumilla, Priorat, Toro, Aragón, Penedès (Cava), and Jerez (Sherry).
The WineFuture HK'11 program will address a wide variety of topics concerning wine industry's future including adapting to the new economies, wine as an investment, challenges and opportunities for the New World, regions and grapes for the future, the Asian markets, marketing strategies, wine education, and the use of Internet amongst others.
In addition to Parker, Robinson and Campo others confirming their participation in WineFuture Hong Kong '11 are Robert Joseph, Miguel Torres, Michel Rolland, Angelo Gaja, Pierre Lurton, Christian Seely, Randall Grahm, Steven Spurrier, and Nigel Greening. This group of wine celebrities will be accompanied by Asian specialists Don St. Pierre along with Masters of Wine Jeannie Cho Lee, Debra Meiburg, and Lisa Perrotti-Brown. More wine personalities are expected to confirm soon.
Hong Kong was chosen by WineFuture as its second host city as in recent years it's grown into Asia's most influential for wine trading.
WineFuture HK'11 will also feature a Trade Show Area at Asia World-Expo boasting 200 tasting tables representing more than 300 wineries from over 50 of the world's wine regions allowing exhibitors to display their products to influential and powerful importers, wine buyers, distributors, sommeliers, and wine writers.
WineFuture HK'11 is organized and is owned by The Wine Academy of Spain with the support of Madwine and Asia Wine Service & Education Centre (AWSEC). WineFuture HK'11 brings together experts from around the world to discuss issues like the economy, trends in consumption, sales, the environment, labeling, packaging, and emerging markets among many others.
