Chateau La France provides romantic setting for the Chinese box office hit, "Jiang Ai"

(Drinks Media Wire). Filmed mainly in the vineyards of Bordeaux, ?Jiang Ai ?is currently the most popular film in China with 7 million tickets sold.

It comes as little surprise that the producer chose the romantic setting of Chateau La France to shoot several scenes in the film. This delightful property nestles in the pretty, rolling hills on the right bank of the Garonne, a few kilometres from Libourne and Saint-Emilion and provides a perfect representation of that quintessential expression of the French lifestyle: a wine chateau in the vineyards of Bordeaux.

Li Yapeng and Xu Jinglei, two of China's most popular actors, star in the film, which tells of a love story that takes place in Beijing, Shanghai and Bordeaux.

Hopefully Jiang Ai will soon be coming to screens in Europe. In the meantime, we are delighted to know that 7 million Chinese people been introduced to this little corner of France and the chateau of the same name.

Owned by the Mottet family since 2009, Chateau La France is part of the aristocracy of the Bordeaux Superior appellation. Located in the commune of Beychac-et-Caillau, the property covers a 90 hectare block, 72 of which are planted for red wine, and 5 for white. The vineyard is made up of hills and plateaus, and has a generous terroir composed of alluvial clay and fine outcrops of gravel.

Chateau La France produces mainly red wine, with small quantities of an elegant, crisp tasting white and a fruity, refreshing ros?

There are two red wines:
Cuv閑 Gallus, which accounts for about one quarter of the total production, is made from the best parcels on the estate. Matured in oak barrels, this is a rich, complex wine with fine structure, and is worth laying down for a few years.

Then there is Chateau La France's traditional wine, which is typically well-defined, fruity and elegant, with silky tannins. The expression of the winemaker's talent and the soul of the terroir, this is a classic Bordeaux, that also has the good taste to be reasonably priced.
