The European Federation of Independent Wine Growers (CEVI) has a new chairman.

Thomas Montagne, a wine grower in the Luberon region of Southern France, took over from Xavier de Volontat during the Federation’s AGM in Italy on April 20th. Thomas Montagne will be assisted by Swiss wine grower Claude Bocquet-Thonney, Costantino Charrère, a wine grower from Italy and Laurent Kox who produces wine in Luxembourg.

“My predecessor, Xavier de Volontat, has been a very capable chairman of CEVI since 2002” said Thomas Montagne. “He successfully developed a dynamic organisation devoted to the protection and promotion of our profession of independent wine growers”.

Thomas Montagne was elected unanimously by delegates from the organisation’s eight member countries. “Developing our stature within the industry and politically will be my priority… Above all, I want our proposals for the reform of the CAP to be heeded”.
