WEST ALLIS, Wis. — Wisconsin wines and other cold-weather wines will soon have a new competition.
Wisconsin officials are starting the Wisconsin State Fair Professional Wine Competition on June 23 and June 24 at the Wisconsin State Fair Park.
A panel of other judges will blind taste test each wine and evaluate them based on appearance, color, aroma, acidity, sweetness, body, flavor, bitterness, astringency and overall quality.
Besides medals, one Wisconsin grown wine will also receive the "Best Wisconsin Wine" award.
The competition is open to all bonded wineries and custom crush growers producing wines from cold climate grapes, as well as fruit, honey and other non-grape wines.
Entries will be accepted starting Tuesday through June 16.
