Christian Oggenfuss appointed Director of Marketing for PlumpJack and CADE Wineries
John Conover, general manager of PlumpJack Winery and a partner in CADE Winery, and the PlumpJack Group are pleased to announce that Christian Oggenfuss has been appointed director of marketing for PlumpJack and CADE wineries.
Oggenfuss comes to his new position with more than 13 years of direct-to-consumer and wine management experience. His industry knowledge and marketing expertise have proven instrumental in helping multi-million dollar wineries achieve and surpass their marketing goals. During his time at Treasury Wine Estates, V. Sattui Winery, Benzinger Family Winery and Imagery Estate Winery, Oggenfuss implemented direct-to-consumer strategies for their tasting rooms, wine clubs, direct marketing and e-commerce efforts, resulting in growth that consistently exceeded projections. Oggenfuss holds a diploma in Wine & Spirits from the Wine and Spirits Educational Trust in London and is a first year student with the Institute of Masters of Wine in London.
Oggenfuss’ wine education, direct-to-consumer and wine industry management experience in Europe and the United States gives him a unique perspective on wine, its culture and its commerce. He has been a guest speaker at ZAP’s (Zinfandel Advocates & Producers) annual meeting on the topic of social media and has presented to the Southern Oregon Wine Industry Symposium, Silicon Valley Bank, Wine Industry Technology Symposium and the 2010 Wine Bloggers conference. He is an active member of the Wine Century Club and a regular judge at the Cabernet and Pinot annual Shootout competition in San Francisco.
“We are delighted to welcome Christian Oggenfuss to the PlumpJack and CADE teams,” said Conover. “Our goal was to find someone whose dedication to quality and knowledge of the industry were on par with PlumpJack and CADE’s high standards, and we are confident that we have found that person.”
PlumpJack Winery released its first vintage in 1997. The winery currently produces several varietals under the direction of winemaker Anthony Biagi. The winery’s focus remains its Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon with two limited offerings: PlumpJack Estate and PlumpJack Reserve. In 2000, PlumpJack became the first premium wine to be released with a screw cap closure.
In 2007, the PlumpJack team came across a magnificent property perched high upon Napa's Howell Mountain, which soon became CADE Winery. In 2010, CADE Winery was awarded Gold Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The winery produces four exquisite wines: CADE Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain (made from the 19 acres of Cabernet vines at the winery), CADE Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain (from grapes purchased from small artisan growers in the Howell Mountain Appellation), the CADE Napa Cuvee (a Bordeaux-style Cabernet Sauvignon), and a small production of CADE Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley.
