Bordeaux hoofs it into China

A Marlborough sustainability consulting company has developed a system to make it easier for wine companies to measure the carbon footprint of their product.

Aura Sustainability won the efficiency category of the Marlborough Environment Awards for the sheer potential of their service.

The company created the BareFoot carbon-analysis system, which they say makes it easier and cheaper to complete a carbon audit of their product.

Aura Sustainability director and Grove Mill winemaker Dave Pearce said: "It's only our world for a little while, then there's people who file in behind you, and I think doing nothing is not an option – and Aura's all about doing things."

The BareFoot system created by Aura is partnered with the Carbon Trust's Carbon Reduction Label, a well-known rating for the carbon footprint of food and drink products in Britain and Australia.
