New York – A majority of New Yorkers support the idea of selling wine in grocery stores.

A Siena poll shows 59 percent of people surveyed think wine should be available in grocery stores, compared to 36 percent who oppose it.

Michael Rabinowitz, spokesman for the coalition of business, hopes "that our elected leaders in Albany will respond to the state’s voters".

Business groups say grocery store wine sales will create thousands of new jobs and raise hundreds of millions of dollars through franchise fees.
