Qingdao: Spanish wine tasting promotion held

The tasting promotion of wines from D.O. La Mancha, Spain was held in Shangri-La Hotel in Qingdao, Shandong on May 30th. More than 100 kinds of D.O. La Mancha vintage wines were on show here, which included several kinds of organic wine species from approximately 20 well-known wineries. People attending the promotion all spoke highly of the wines with first-class quality and brand image made in D.O. La Mancha. 

Although D.O. La Mancha, located in the central part of Spain, undergoes extreme weather, yet it is good to grape-growing in that grapes here can grow without the annoyance of the insects. In fact, D.O. La Mancha is the largest zone for wine-making grapes which covers an area of over 450,000 hectares. However, the production volume of each hectare is not very high. Actually, it can only yield a half of those in France and Italy.

 “Obviously, the low yield of each mu is to guarantee a vintage flavor.” Ms. Liu from Qingdao Hongtaizhou International Trade Company remarked. 

According to the representatives of such well-known wineries as Vinicola de Tomelloso and Santa Catalina from D.O. La Mancha, La Mancha has a very rich range of wine-making grape species, among which are White Wine Airen, Red Wine Tempranillo, the most popular kind of red grape in Spain. What’s more, such grape species for white wines as Viura, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and so on are grown. Additionally, Grenache Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines are also present. 

Taking into the high quality, species innovation and so on into consideration, people believe that wines made in D.O. La Mancha are attracting more and more attention worldwide.
