Speciality beer importer James Clay is to add a line-up of bottle-conditioned beers from Norway to its range.

Six Nøgne-ø beers will join the company’s portfolio in mid-July: the 6% abv Pale Ale; 6% abv Saison; 7.5% IPA; 7.5% Imperial Brown Ale,; 7% Porter; and 9% abv Imperial Stout.

Nigel Stevenson, speciality beer consultant at James Clay, said: “Nøgne-ø is a brand that’s synonymous with the craft ale movement.

“We’ve selected six beers from its impressive range to import regularly and I’m looking forward to seeing how they’re received by consumers.”

Nøgne-ø was founded in 2002 and its name translates as “naked island”, a term used by the playwright Henrik Ibsen to describe barren outcrops off the Norwegian coast.
