Spanish wine producer, Vicente Gandia, said it has signed a deal with UK wine agency Bottle Green to help drive its wines in the UK off-trade.

Speaking at today's Vinexpo, Francisco Tarin, Vicente Gandia's export manager told Harpers it was still early days as it had only just signed the contract, but it hoped to be able to re-establish itself in the UK after pulling out of the country a few years ago due to pricing issues with the supermarkets.

The time, though, was right to return, said Gandia. It hopes to be able to bring its selection of wines from most of the major wine producing regions in Spain to the UK. This includes a new organic range featuring the key Spanish grape varietals.

"We see a new opportunity for Spanish wines in the UK now," said Tarin, who confirmed its on-trade interests were being handled by Wells & Young pub group. "It is the right time to go back to the UK and we have the right price point wines at between four and seven pounds."

Vicente Gandia had previously been in the UK with PLB.
