By   2011-6-23 9:48:09

Qing Dynasty
Height: 20.8cm
Diameter of mouth: 4.3cm
Thickness: 5.1cm

The pot has a round mouth and cylinder-shaped neck. There are two ears shaped like interlocking branches on both sides of the neck. The flat body is round when viewed from the front. There's a trapezoidal base at the bottom. Both the front and back of the pot are round and adorned with carvings of two dragons playing with a lotus flower. The carvings are surrounded by polished edges. The neck, both sides of the body, and the outer side of the base are all engraved with square labyrinth patterns.

The pot is extremely regular in shape, with a focus on the contrast between round and square. The engravings are elaborate and well arranged. The craftsmanship of the pot reached a fairly high level and carried on the exquisite and luxury style popular since the Ming Dynasty.
