Grabone takes wine tasting online

Wine renegade Jayson Bryant will host GrabOne Bottle’s first live wine tasting – an online wine event aimed at giving Kiwis a broader appreciation of New Zealand wine.

The tasting session will be streamed live into New Zealand homes with a lively wine debate involving a Koura Bay Sauvignon Blanc, an Ant Moore Pinot Gris and a Ripponvale Central Otago Pinot Noir sourced by the team at Direct Wines. Bryant will lead the discussion, encouraging Kiwis to contribute their opinions via Facebook and Twitter.

The GrabOne Bottle Live Wine Tasting Selection, which includes two bottles of each wine, goes on sale Monday 27 June at GrabOne Bottle for the event on Thursday 30 June.

Bryant believes this wine selection will showcase what New Zealand winemakers are best at.

“We’ll be looking at three great wines from two of New Zealand’s key wine making regions including a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc – which seems to be everyone’s favourite at the moment,” he says. “Through GrabOne Bottle these three wines will cost less than $9 each which is an incredible offering.”

GrabOne Marketing Executive Andy Hunter says the selection is based on GrabOne Bottles top performing wines.

‘This is a great way for us to support these boutique vineyards that we’ve been working with over the past six months,” he says. “The online format allows this event to be accessible to the whole country.

“Jayson is definitely one of New Zealand’s most passionate wine commentators and will do a great job of bringing together wine lovers from across the country.”

The event will be streamed live via Facebook from 8.00pm on Thursday 30 June 2011.

GrabOne Bottle, a partnership with online wine distributors Direct Wines, was launched in December 2010. GrabOne Bottle has enabled hundreds of boutique vineyards across New Zealand to showcase their wines to New Zealand’s wine loving public at prices of up to 90% off.
