Oregon Wine License Plates Pass both Houses; Governor Expected to Sign the Bill
Travel Salem, a tourism organization based in Salem, Oregon, sponsored the bill (SB 442), which right now shows an Oregon vineyard on a license plate. The bill has passed both house and is on its way for the Governor to sign.
The license plate will cost $30 above normal car registration fees. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will have to approve its design.
At first, the bill only gave money to three Oregon counties. Southern Oregon was excluded, and the administration was to be handled by Travel Salem.
That got changed as the bill moved through both houses, now benefiting the entire state. The money collected will go into a fund and be administered by Travel Oregon (the state’s travel organization), to be used anywhere in the state for culinary and wine travel.
