Driver arrested

A DRUNK driver who knocked down a traffic police officer as he tried to escape detection was arrested yesterday. Zhao Huiqiang, a 27-year-old Jiangxi Province native, had been drinking wine before he drove a minibus on the night of June 1 and was stopped by police at an intersection in Songjiang District. To avoid punishment, Zhao started the vehicle suddenly and hit police officer Qian Yong and a police assistant. Qian suffered severe fractures. Zhao was caught three days later.
