Shangri-La Hotel Sydney hosts events for 2011 Crave International Food Festival

Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney will host five events during the 2011 Crave International Food Festival in October 2011.  The 2011 calendar of events will offer biggest and most diverse range of gourmet experiences for guests ever held at the hotel.

“We have designed a programme for Crave that will give our guests a taste of the origins of Shangri-La, as well as highlighting some of the signature tastes and experiences that can be had at Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney,” said Executive Chef Wade James.

A highlight of the festival will be Hats Off at Altitude Restaurant on Tuesday 11 October 2010.  Chef Steven Krasicki’s themed dinner, Smoke and Ash – Tales of a Caribbean Barbecue, provides guests a six-course tasting menu with a traditional Caribbean mojito cocktail on arrival, and it is priced at A$160 per person.  Guests can embark on a culinary journey through the islands of the Caribbean with traditional dishes and smoked delicacies.

Guests can learn how to host the ultimate cocktail party with Chef Krasicki’s Entertainers Master Class, which will provide guests with the skills and produce knowledge to prepare for a cocktail party of up to 50 guests.  Held in Altitude Restaurant, Chef Krasicki will show guests how to prepare a selection of small and large canapés and match them with selected champagne and wine.Altitude’s Entertainers Master Classes will be held on Saturday 8 October 2011 and Saturday 23 October 2011 at 11: 30 a.m.  Each class is priced at A$135 per person.  The class includes two hours of hands-on training, canapés and matching wine tasting with the chef, an Altitude apron and a glass of champagne on arrival.

Back by popular demand, Sugar Hits offers a dessert and Brown Brothers wine in the Lobby Lounge and Terrace each evening from 7 p.m. for A$20 per person throughout October 2011.

One floor up, Café Mix will offer guests an authentic and diverse selection of cuisine at the Culinary Tour of Asia buffet dinner.  Café Mix’s speciality chefs will prepare local and traditional dishes from throughout Asia, including delicacies from China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India and Taiwan.  The Culinary Tour of Asia dinner buffet is available each Friday and Saturday night from 1 to 31 October 2011 and is priced at A$68 per person.        

Guests looking for a decadent indulgence are invited to try the pure chocolate Wickedly Sweet High Tea.  Served in the Lobby Lounge and Terrace, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney’s indulgent high tea includes a three-tiered stand of chocolate desserts.  Available every Saturday and Sunday between 1 and 5 p.m. from 1 to 31 October 2011, the Wickedly Sweet High Tea is A$45 per person and includes 11 desserts, a glass of Brown Brothers sparkling wine and the choice of a tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
