Barboursville shipping wine to China

An Orange County vineyard will ship the first Virginia wine to China as part of a state trade deal. Barboursville Vineyards is preparing to send 85 cases of its 2009 Viognier to the Asian nation.

A delegation from a Chinese importer recently visited Barboursville and selected the white wine that's become a signature of Virginia.

"Being recognized as a winery that's able to make great wines in a place where 20 years ago, nobody would think good wine could be made, that's a great achievement for us," said Assistant

Winemaker Daniele Tessaro. The first shipment of Barboursville Viognier to China is set to take place at the end of the month.
