Investment opportunities in Sheffield are being eyed up by businesses in a Chinese province after a delegation toured the city.

The visit was organised by Creativesheffield which said the Shandong province - located on the east coast of China - is one of the most affluent provinces in the country as it has benefitted from investment from Japan and South Korea.

The province is known for the production of cotton, wheat and wine, as well as precious metals such as gold and diamonds.

According to Creativesheffield, the Shandong delegation expressed particular interest in the advanced manufacturing sector and financial services during their introductory visit.

Councillor Julie Dore, leader of Sheffield City Council who hosted the visit, said: "Sheffield is working hard to develop its international relationships in order to create more opportunities for the city's businesses. I look forward to welcoming more international delegations to Sheffield in months to come."
