China shows strong demand for French wine & spirits in H1

The value of French wine and spirits exports increased by around 12% in the first half of 2011, figures from export trade body FEVS, show.

Exports reached EUR4.31bn (US$5.87bn) for the six months to the end of June, while volumes rose by 2% on the same period of 2010, to almost 91m cases. Still and sparkling wine exports totaled almost EUR3bn, up 14.4%, but volume growth was limited to 2.3%.

Spirits exports rose by 8.4% in value and 2.2% in volume.
