NapaStyle (www.napastyle.com/home.jsp), the artisan home and food products retailer founded by Chef Michael Chiarello, is now providing free design advice on its newly launched blog, "Celebrating the Flavor of NapaStyle." Every month at www.NapaStyleFlavor.com, Napa Valley resident and design expert, Lisa Holt, shares her favorite seasonal design solutions, drawing inspiration from the people, places, and heritage of California's Napa Valley wine region as well as the pages of the NapaStyle catalog.
"What most people don't realize is that virtually any space around the house can be magically transformed by adding a few key elements...comfortable seating, flexible dining surfaces, lighting and great tabletops," said Lisa, who, in addition to authoring the NapaStyle blog, is an award-winning Napa Valley-based interior designer and creative director of DLS and LHDG, which designs hotels and residences both locally and internationally. "I am so excited to be working with NapaStyle to help people around the country incorporate the colors, textures, and rich heritage of the Napa Valley lifestyle into their homes."
While most retail stores, catalogs, and magazines are already featuring photos of autumnal landscapes and cozy products for Fall, Lisa's first "Celebrating the Flavor of NapaStyle" blog post urges readers to hold on to that summer feeling as long as sunny skies continue into warm evenings. Lisa's favorite place to enjoy the lingering days of summer? The various outdoor rooms she's created around her vineyard home. Here are a few of Lisa's tips for composing your own perfect Outdoor Room no matter where you live:
● Great seating. Mix-and-match stools, benches, chairs, and lounge seating. And don't be afraid to bring your indoor pillows out.
● Flexible dining surfaces. Another must is tables or surfaces sturdy enough to hold plates and glasses, as well as bottles and serving dishes.
● Lighting. It doesn't get more magical than running some lights into your trees, or simply stringing them across a terrace area.
● Great tabletops. Bring your "good stuff" outside! Your existing china and cutlery is an extension of your personal style.
● Scent. The scents of fresh citrus, basil, rosemary, and mint are quintessentially summer in the Napa Valley, and it's easy to grow herbs and miniature citrus trees in pots.
