China, No. one Bordeaux wine importer in 12 months
China has been the first largest importer of Bordeaux wine from last July to this June.
According to the latest market report by French CIVB (Le Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux), an association for Bordeaux wine, China saw an all-time high between last July and this June in terms of import and trading volume of Bordeaux wine. The total volume of Bordeaux wine imported by China in the period reached 40.4 million liters; transaction amount of the same kind rose to EUR 557 million in the period.
As of June 2011, total export volume of French Bordeaux wine has climbed to 196.6 million liters in the past 12 months; and the total trading value, EUR 1.75 billion, surging 34% year on year.
It is showed that the main driving force for the surge in export volume and export value of Bordeaux wine mainly comes from non-EU (European Union) countries. Mainland China and Hong Kong contributed the most. During the same period, the total volume of Bordeaux wine imported by Mainland China surged 85% and reached 31.4 millio liters, ranking the first in the world, while the Hong Kong market kept the same pace with the mainland market and maintained sound growth, witnessing 9 million-liter.
