In the last three years, Fuzhou is expanding and its own function is optimizing.

The urban development strategy “eastward expansion, southward advance, along the river and seaward development” has been further implemented, and the built up area expands to 220 square kilometers. Wenzhou-Fuzhou, Fuzhou-Xiamen rapid transit railway, the second period of airport expressway, Yuping, Sanhuan and loop expressways are completed successively; subway line one was started to build; 36 express ways, main roads have been newly rebuilt and expanded..

The improvement of 75 inland rivers within urban area was carried out and Antai river and Baima river became the bright landscape river within urban area at present. The new children’s park, new Chating park, riverside leisure square were completed and opened. 277 square meters’ city green land area was newly increased and the percentage of vegetation reached 40.3%.

At the monitoring and evaluation results of environmental livable cities which were issued by Chinese Academy for Environmental Planning in 2010, Fuzhou got the highest score and ranked the first in all provincial capitals and sub provincial cities.

Constantly improve locals’ livelihood, share the achievements of the creation of new cities

Creating a civilized city is based on the concept of people-oriented theory which focus on promoting the happiness and satisfaction of citizens.

Since 2009, financial expense of Fuzhou government at the corresponding level has reached 37.511 billon yuan for improving the livelihood of the people, which takes up 61.37 percent of total expenditure.

In the first half of this year, the financial expense of Fuzhou reached 9.207 billion yuan, which took up 63 percent of general budget expenditure, and the income of urban and rural residents respectively increase 13.1 percent and 18.5 percent. In the Chinese Urban Life Quality Index Report, which was issued by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, people’s living standard index of Fuzhou ranks the third among 30 provincial capitals and municipalities.

Cultural Fuzhou, creates new image of the city

Continuous innovation activities give birth to the gratifying evolution and the new image of “cultural Fuzhou” is gradually well understood by people.

Works of literary and art which are of high quality have made brilliant achievements, the campaigns of Jasmine Literary Award are extensively carried out; Min opera such as Wang Maosheng sent wine, Story of Red Dress, Dreams of Going Back to the South, got national award.

A plenty of key public cultural facilities such as workers cultural palace, the library, the Olympic sports center are started to build. One singing activity got the national “galaxy award” in 2010; the proportion of value added of cultural and creative industry reached 6.2 percent in 2010.
