A record six new entrants today join the Miele Guide list of the top 20 restaurants in Asia, led again by Iggy’s, a modern European establishment in Singapore.

Restaurant Andre, Singapore (2nd), is the highest addition to the list. The others are Mr & Mrs Bund, Shanghai (7th); Pierre Gagnaire a Seoul (8th); 8-1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana, Hong Kong (13th); Dakshin, Chennai, India (16th); and Sarong, Bali (18th).

“The 2011/2012 Top 20 list hints at a growing emergence of restaurants that marry sophisticated Western culinary techniques with Asian flavors,” the organizers said in an e-mailed release. “Our region’s top, promising chefs have utilized local ingredients in their elegant creations, such as black chicken egg and duck’s tongue at Restaurant Andre.
