Japanese wines tasted in Beijing

On 27 December, a tasting of a Japanese wines was hosted in the Japanese Embassy in China.
In order to introduce high-quality Japanese wines into China, and reduce the adverse effects of Japan earthquake on Japanese food industry, the Japanese Embassy and Japan's Democratic Party organized the event.
According to the organizer, Japan has a large area of sand soil, very suitable for planting grapes, Yamanashi Hokkaido and Honshu Island is Japan's most important grape-growing regions. Japan also has unique winemaking techniques.
Nearly 20 wines are displayed and tasted. Japanese politicians and wine experts from both countries attended the tasting. According to a Chinese attendee, Japanese wines are different from western wines in colour, taste and wine culture. The difference and uniqueness may attract Chinese drinkers and the future outlook in China market is quite optimistic.
The Japanese wines are not available yet in China. The related enterprises of both countries are working to bring Japanese wine to Chinese wine drinkers in near future.
