The world's most powerful wine retailers revealed
In the latest issue of Meininger's Wine Business International, released this week, a team of international correspondents find out how retail works in some of the world's most important markets, including Germany, China, India, the USA and the UK, from the 'mom and pop' stores through to the major chains. It's the first of a series offered this year, that seeks to unlock the way the global wine trade works. In the next issue, an international team will reveal who the important wholesalers and importers are, in markets as diverse as Brazil and China.
Also in the current issue is a report on the state of the UK market, an update from the recent Cool Climate Conference in Tasmania, plus a case study of a region that's using its cool climate story in its marketin. Moscato, the rising star, is profiled - who is buying it, where and why, and there's a company profile of a prestigious sparkling enterprise in Russia. Tony Aspler from Canada takes a close look at the Quebec monopoly, which you can read here.
