2012 China Int'l Wine Industry Investment Fair to be held in Xiamen in Sep
Wine merchants from across the globe could be heading to the Far East later this year, with a major industry fair scheduled to take place in Xiamen.
The 2012 China International Wine Industry Investment Fair represents the first professional wine investment fair to take place in the Chinese city.
It is scheduled to take place at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Centre from September 8th - 11th and promises to be a memorable occasion for those in the industry.
Spread across the 5,000 sq m venue, a total of 250 booths will be set up showcasing a variety of Bordeaux and Burgundy wines alongside other more unusual vintages.
In addition to the variety of fine wines on display, attendees will also be invited to attend lectures and an auction with bottles from some of the finest Grand Cru Classes potentially going under the hammer.
Wine merchants and agents will also be invited to attend a special matchmaking conference where they will get the chance to network with others working in this increasingly global market.
As ever, the event will also provide enthusiasts with the chance to sample some of the fine wines on show at the event.
The event has been organised in a bid to cater to the growing demand for fine wine investment options in the Far East.
Last weekend saw Christie's host its annual Hong Kong wine auction, with the results further emphasising the demand for investment-grade Bordeaux and Burgundy vintages.
Among the highlights was the sale of a 12 bottle collection of the 1982 vintage Chateau Lafite Rothschild, which sold for £30,165.
A 1989 vintage Chateau Petrus, meanwhile, sold for £22,121 with head of wine for Christie's Asia Charles Curtis noting the "vigor" of the market in the region.
"Buyers are eagerly snapping up both older vintages and large format bottles, again showing that collections here are broadening," he said.
Organisers of the September event in Xiamen will be hoping for this form to continue later this year.
