Winemakers from Australia and New Zealand will be hitting the road next month as Negociants embarks on its first ever UK winemaker tour, in order to re-establish close links with the trade.
Its first port of call will be Edinburgh on September 17, followed by Manchester on 18, London on 20 and Bristol on 24. Independents are invited to meet six of its Australian and New Zealand winemakers, who will showcase wines and share stories.
From the Barossa Valley will be Louisa Rose, head of winemaking at Yalumba; from the Clare Valley is Tom Barry, third-generation winemaker at Jim Barry Wines; Margaret River will be represented by Virginia Willcock, chief winemaker at Vasse Felix; hailing from the Hunter Valley will be Iain Riggs, chief winemaker at Brokenwood; and representing New Zealand will be Nautilus Estate's Clive Jones and Jeff Clarke, chief winemaker at Ara.
Negociants UK managing director Simon Thorpe MW said the tour is a great opportunity to get its wines in front of customers, both old and new.
"I can't help feeling that our industry has lost some of that connection over the years and our aim with the winemaker tour is to re-establish those close links with as many people in the trade as we can reach over the two-week period."
