MCGUIGAN UNVEILS POP-UP VINEYARD

Officially opened last night by Australia’s Ambassador to Ireland, Mr Bruce Davis, the McGuigan City Vineyard features over 100 living, breathing 70-year-old vines, a cellar door, wine barrels and a tractor in the Irish capital’s Meeting House Square.

To celebrate the installation of the pop-up vineyard, Davis and a host of local socialites and press – alongside Brian and Neil McGuigan (pictured, left) – gathered for a party at the city centre space.

Commenting on the vineyard, designed to commemorate the McGuigan family’s Irish roots, Neil McGuigan said “Dublin holds a special place in my family as our ancestors hail from Ireland – and it was so important to us to come back here from Australia – with our wines, vines and people!”

For four days from 5-8 September the pop-up vineyard is open, and visitors can walk among the vines and be among the first to taste McGuigan’s new releases – ‘S’ Semillon Blanc and Black Label Rosé.

As featured in the drinks business, McGuigan installed a city vineyard in London in the Broadgate Arena next to Liverpool St Station in July 2008, and has created similar pop-ups in Sydney and Melbourne.
