2012 Orange Wine Week launched

Following a hugely successful Taste Orange @ Sydney which saw over 12,000 Sydney-siders gain a taste of the Orange region, Orange is keeping the foot firmly on the pedal with the launch of the 2012 Orange Wine Week program.

This year’s Wine Week will see a substantial growth in the number of events planned. The inaugural Winemakers’ Table in Millthorpe as well as the National Cool Climate Shiraz Symposium will ensure the eyes of the industry will be upon the region.

The 2012 Orange Wine Week begins on the 19th of October and continues through to the 28th.

The key events include:

Orange Wine Show Public Tasting
The Orange Wine Show results will be announced, with tastings of the trophy and medal winning wines, poured by the winegrowers. Over 250 Orange region wines will be on show; taste the wines and talk to the makers.

Winemakers’ Table
A new addition to the Wine Week program, the Winemakers’ Table sees long communal tables set within the historic village of Millthorpe. The Millthorpe chefs will join the winemakers to entertain and showcase the wines and food of the region.

Wine Central
Join the region’s winemakers and viticulturalists in the casual environment of the Union Bank. This is a free event with various themes across the days.

National Cool Climate Shiraz Symposium
A symposium to further improve the viticulture and winemaking for cool climate shiraz in Australia, with topics covering global and Australian styles of shiraz, selling cool climate shiraz, winemaking techniques and a terroir tour of the Orange region. A special Symposium dinner will also be held on the night of the 24th.

Orange Wine Week Night Markets
The Wine Week Night Markets continues to grow and evolve, with over 40 stalls offering the region’s best wines and produce. Meet the makers and enjoy local entertainment. This family event has been one of the marque events of the Orange calendar.
