5 November 2012 Some 950 exhibitors from around the world will showcase a variety of wine, spirits, wine accessories and equipment and related services at the HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair, which opens 8 November and continues through 10 November, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). John Tsang, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.

The fair’s fifth edition has attracted exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions. Nearly 60 special events have been arranged, including the Wine Industry Conference and the fourth Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition Award Presentation Ceremony. The ceremony will be followed by a Gala Wine Dinner with the theme “A Mid-Autumn Night’s Dream of Truffles.”

In addition, a Wine Education zone will debut at this year’s fair to cultivate wine appreciation and provide training for industry professionals. Cocktail demonstrations will be held daily at the Ice Bar, which will showcase a variety of spirits and sake. The Asia Top Sommelier Summit, seminars and wine-tasting sessions and networking events arranged during the fair period will strengthen Hong Kong’s role as Asia’s wine and spirits hub.

The fair is open to the public, 18 and above (admission fee HK$200) on Saturday, 10 November. Public visitors can take part in the two Fine-Wine Tasting Sessions spotlighting wine from Australia, France, Italy, Spain and elsewhere, with an admission fee of $500 per session.

A special press preview of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair will be held on Wednesday (7 November), the day before the fair opens.
