Southeast China Wine Trading Centre marked its grand opening with Xiamen (Haicang) Wine Festival in Xiamen Haicang District on New Year's Day.

With the largest import volume of wine, Xiamen Haicang port has gradually become the largest wine distribution centre in Fujian. It imported more than 10 million liters of wine in 2011, taking a lead in wine imports nationwide with largest increase for 3 years in a row. The imported wines mainly come from 14 countries and regions including France, Australia, Israel, Moldova, Hungary and Chile.

As the largest wine trading centre in southeast China, Southeast China Wine Trading Centre is set to provide a vast trade platform for imported wine based on the current imported wine distribution centre in the Haicang Bonded Area, aiming to drive a new round of growth to wine industry in Haicang District and the city. The trading volume of wine imports in the trading centre is expected to hit RMB2 billion in the next five years.

As the nearest district to the Xiamen Island, Haicang District has been attaching more importance to the development of environment-friendly industries including the imported wine industry, biomedical and oil, and cultural and creative industries.
