Frank and Vince Indelicato had a chance to bask in the fruits of success.
The vintners of the Delicato Family Vineyards made an appearance at the Manteca Costco warehouse store on Thursday, graciously signing bottles of their different wines to those making a purchase during the grand opening.
"We're excited to have Delicato here at our store," said buyer Mary Connelly.
Each time Costco opens in a new area, store buyers will often look at some of the local business to support, according to Connelly.
Delicato was slam dunk choice.
Founded in 1924 by Gaspare Indelicato, Delicato - or DFV - has managed to grow with the times and continues to go strong as a third generation winery.
Delicato has received plenty of honors, including U.S. Wine Producer of the Year for an unprecedented three times.
Its wines have earned countless of awards.
Gnarly Head old vine zinfandel is one of DFV's signature wines now available at Costco.
Cabernet Sauvignon 337 is another successful wine produced by Delicato and sold at the new warehouse store at 2440 Daniels St.
According to John Tarver, vice president of western sales, the popularity of 337 has grown significantly in recent years.
"It's now available in many of the exclusive restaurants including the Four Seasons," he said.
And then there's Brazin.
That's where the old world growing region of Lodi joins forces with the new world wine-making techniques to create this zinfandel that described as "so bold, so intense, that it is dangerously good."
Tarver points out to the "dangerously good" warning on the bottle.
Those purchasing a bottle of this wine also received a stalk with growing instruction exclusively from the vineyard.
The second-generation Indelicato brothers were thrilled to meet the many shoppers who were also fans of their wines.
"It used to be that wines were known more for status," Frank Indelicato said. "But that's changed.
"Many not only enjoy drinking wine but they see the health side as a plus."
And what's the best tasting wine?
"For me, it's always a personal choice," Indelicato said. "It all depends on your taste."
His wine choices, incidentally, had very little to do with price or region.
