Gold Medal – Rottnest Express – Love My Rotto Marketing Campaign
In December 2010, Rottnest Express launched an extensive summer marketing campaign with the aim of increasing same day return visitor numbers to Rottnest Island. The focus of the theme being “Love My Rotto”. The aim was to reengage the community with Rottnest Island and reignite the passion and ownership of the island. A strategic, well targeted media campaign was implemented from December 2010 to April 2011 utilising an extensive media mix including radio, television, press, online and outdoor advertising. The campaign proved to be a huge success and will be continued.

Clive Nelthorpe has been involved in tourism since the 1960s - initially with Qantas, then for many years with Motive Travel Group. In that time he has taken on many roles in many capacities, a great number of which have been as an unpaid volunteer. Clive has been the General Manager of Best Western (WA), a tourism industry liaison consultant, tourism lecturer and course co-ordinator at Edith Cowan University, a consultant to many Government institutions in areas of tourism, marketing research, marketing program development and tourism infrastructure development and in many more roles. Clive has served as chairperson of the Fremantle Prison Ministerial Advisory Committee and is a life member of the Perth Convention Bureau. He was the chairman for Hospitality Group Training for 11 years and is now that group’s inaugural Honorary Life Member in recognition of his extraordinary service. Clive was closely involved in developing the foundations of the Young Australians Tourism Association, was a member of the International Advisory Council, Pacific Asia Travel Association and has been a member of Skal International Perth Chapter since 1975. Clive was also heavily involved during the period of the America’s Cup defence 1987/88 and with a business colleague set up Motive Travel Group in New York as agents for WA in the lead up to this historic event. Clive is still a very active player in our industry and currently runs his own consultancy, Clive Nelthorpe and Associates. He is also General Manager of Motive Tours Australia, an inbound operator and wholesaler with links to well known retail travel agency, Motive Travel. Clive is the inaugural and current Chairman of regional tourism organisation Australia’s South West Incorporated.
