The Sonoma County Vintners are developing a branding campaign for Sonoma County wines, which aims to capture the diversity and character of the region.
The group is working with BHC Consulting, a brand strategy firm in Duncans Mills, and plans to begin rolling out the campaign in the first quarter of 2012, said Honore Comfort, executive director of the vintners group.
Nearly 50 local wine industry leaders worked together in 2011 to determine a theme and target audience for the campaign. They selected three words to define the wine region’s character: genuine, independent and adventurous. And they chose to target “experience seekers” who enjoy traveling and dining out. The campaign will be fully implemented by the end of 2012, Comfort said.
“We have one chance to do this, and one chance to do it right, so we’re going to take our time,” Comfort said.
